Founded in early 2026 by Avishka Perera and Anika Seneviratne, the Weligama Sharks are a growing Sri Lankan sports franchise with a passion for competition, community, and the development of sport.

The Sharks made an immediate impact in their debut season, finishing runners-up in the 2026 Sri Lanka Padel League. Building on that success, the franchise is now expanding into pickleball as it prepares to compete in the Ceylon Pickle League.

With ambitions beyond any single sport, the Weligama Sharks aim to continue growing as a franchise while promoting emerging sports, creating new opportunities for athletes, and contributing to the development of sport in Sri Lanka.
